Do I need prior debate experience to join?
Absolutely not! The Adamson Debate Society welcomes members of all experience levels. We provide comprehensive training programs designed to help beginners develop their skills while also challenging experienced debaters to reach new heights.
What time commitment is required for membership?
We understand that students have varying schedules. Regular members typically attend weekly training sessions (2 hours) and society events. Executive members may have additional responsibilities, but we work with your academic schedule to ensure balance.
Are there opportunities for leadership roles?
Yes! The society offers various leadership opportunities including executive committee positions, team captainships, event coordination roles, and mentorship programs. We believe in developing leadership skills alongside debate expertise to prepare our members for future success.
Can I join the varsity team even if I register as a resident member?
Yes! You can upgrade from resident member to varsity member based on your performance and commitment. We regularly evaluate members for varsity team opportunities, and dedicated resident members can advance to represent the university in official events and tournaments.
Can I join the organization even if I don't plan to debate?
Yes, the organization is open to all! We welcome members who are interested in public speaking, research, event organization, leadership development, and supporting our debate community. There are many ways to contribute beyond competitive debating.
Can I join the organization if I'm not from Adamson University?
Yes, but there will be specific conditions that apply. We are currently developing guidelines for non-Adamson students. Please check back soon for detailed information about external membership requirements and procedures.
